WTO-ITC Webinar in Celebration of World Cotton Day 2021

The United Nations General Assembly has adopted a resolution (A/RES/75/318) proclaiming 7 October as the International Day for Cotton, recognizing its vital importance.

As part of the activities and celebrations for World Cotton Day 2021, the Secretariats of the World Trade Organization (WTO) & the International Trade Centre (ITC) are organizing a webinar on how to develop a sustainable supply chain from cotton to clothing in Africa in the context of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCTFA). With cotton grown and harvested in Africa having a lower environmental footprint than most other destinations, Africa has an excellent opportunity to develop a green industry from cotton to clothing.

The webinar will look at this matter from the perspectives of cotton production, textile and clothing manufacturing and the market demand with Africa and beyond.
